Step-By-Step Guide: How to Fix Sage Error Code ER05

1. Preparation - Power off your machine and make sure it is unplugged from the mains. Remove your drip tray and bean hopper. Find a clear workspace, lay a towel or mat down and place your machine on its back.

2. Remove the base cover - There are 5 screws to remove from the base of the machine. See the diagrams below, the 5 screws are circled.

3. Unscrew the Sensor Board - There are 4 more screws to unscrew to free the sensor board. Here you can also see the broken wire that is causing the Error code 5 (ER05).

4. Remove the Sensor Board - Use your screwdriver to lift up the sensor board and carefully remove it. Sometimes it can be quite stuck so be careful when pulling it.

5. Replace the sensor board - Once you have removed the sensor board you will need to replace it with a new one. To do this you need to unplug the wire attaching the board to the machine, then the wire attached to the machine will need to be plugged into the replacement sensor board.

6. Fit the sensor board back in place - To do this you will need to hold the white part and push it back up into the spring until it clicks. This can sometimes take a bit of force. Then you can press the board into place over it.

7. Secure the sensor board - Now you need to put the 4 screws back into the board to hold it in place.

8. Screw on the base - Now to screw in the 5 screws from the beginning that hold the base onto the machine.
